Nebraska Attractions close to UNL
The Special Olympics USA of 2010 were held in the state of Nebraska in Lincoln, at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. The University is the oldest in the entire state and was very proud to host the Special Olympics, especially since their own athletic program is very well developed.
People from across the nation came to Nebraska in 2010 to either compete in the event held at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, to accompany the competitors or to cheer on their favorite athletes. Not only was the event itself a wonderful occasion to enjoy Nebraskan hospitality but those visiting the state and Lincoln city for a longer period could enjoy a few attractions situation close to the University.
Among popular Lincoln tourist attractions are the Children’s Museum and Children’s Zoo. Don’t be fooled by the name, these are sights that the entire family could enjoy, but children absolutely adore it. The International Quilt Study Center Museum is a unique experience as well, though at a larger distance from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
Pioneer Park and Nature Center represents a 900-acre area of wildlife for outdoor lovers to enjoy and is usually frequented by locals all the time. The Wilderness Ridge Golf Course brings the outdoor lovers a little closer to home and give them a sport to play with the entire family.
Getting even closer to the University tourists can find the Nebraska State Capitol and, of course, the University of Nebraska Museum. The National Museum of Roller Skating stays in the cultural area of the city for those interested in learning something new, while keeping learning a true pleasure for any age. Hazel Abel Park and Holmes Park and Lake represent great relaxing opportunities, as well as the Wilderness and Antelope Parks.
There are many attractions in Nebraska in the Lincoln area allowing both locals and tourists to enjoy every day in a new and exciting way.
