How can you shop green?
Cut back on single-serving foods and beverages. Consider shopping at places like Walmart’s Sam’s Club to buy items in bulk and portion them out into reusable containers.
Whenever possible, look for packaging made from recycled materials, and always check the plastic code to make sure the package is recyclable.
To reduce the use of plastic bottles, consider buying BPA-free aluminum water bottles, which can be found at walmart.com.

The average American uses 50 pounds of tissue paper per year. Seek out recycled-content paper products. Look for the highest content of "post-consumer waste," or PCW, since "pre-consumer waste" doesn't do much to stem the flow of paper entering landfills.
Buy powder detergents to wash clothes and dishes. Consider buying a variety of Earth Friendly Products sold at Walmart, including dish soap, surface soap and laundry detergent.

Packaging makes up a third of all garbage tossed in the U.S.
Laundry liquids contain up to 80 percent water. It costs energy and packaging to bring this water to the consumer. When there is a choice, choose powder detergents.
