The Special Olympics are an important way for athletes with intellectual disabilities to show that they are as strong, determined and impressive as any other athlete on the planet. There have been dozens of competitions held all over the world every few years and many have had the chance to show their courage.

In the 2010 edition many Americans enjoyed the opportunity to see some fine athletes competing against each other in one of the greatest competitions in sports. The 2010 Special Olympics National Games were held in the city of Lincoln, in the state of Nebraska. To be even more specific, the games were held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln which granted it a great honor and was taken as the most joyous opportunity.

The university is more commonly referred to as Nebraska or UNL.
